SANDBACH


 

SANDBACH is owned by John Dodwell. Built in 1946 at Yarwoods as a 25ft Tug, later lengthened
by Yarwoods to 35ft. Built as a maintenance fleet Tug for the LMS Railway Co when they owned
the Cheshire Canals. Home base now is Stourbridge Basin. SANDBACH has a 1052 twin cylinder
Bolinder built in 1953 No 1381 1066. Previously in CACTUS with Malcolm Braine and did many years
service as a trip boat at Great Yarwood. 2 cylinder water cooled 23hp 1500r.p.m. with a Bolinder
Gearbox 2-1 reduction. 22inch propeller original Bolinder.
