Bramble

I have recently acquired ex
FMC Motor Bramble as a long term restoration project. The boat is
currently at
Dadfords Wharf (Ian Kemps yard on the Stourbridge 16) and is about to be
lifted out for work on extending her
back to original length to be started, I believe she was cut down to her
present length of 35ft in the mid 1960’s
by the simple expedient of taking out the straight section of the hull and
then rejoining the two ends. I meant
to ask Ron Hough exactly when it was done as he used to have her at that
time; he was moored near my other
boat over Christmas. However I will be seeing him again later in the year
and hope to see some of his
collection of photographs of Bramble then.

There is currently an HR2
with the boat and I also have a JP3 as an alternative, however I
eventually hope to
have the boat back to original spec as time and money allow (if ever) I
understand it was originally fitted with
a 9hp Bolinder so long term a Bolinder is the very ultimate ambition and
wonder if anyone has any further
information on the original engine fitted, and also if anyone knows of
similar engines around which would be
suitable for eventual fitting when restoration of the boat is completed.

Fortunately I am being
helped by Joe Hollingshead so could not ask for better
assistance when it comes to Bolinders

Any Information that can be
provided about Bramble would be greatly appreciated.
