Italian Bolinder
Can Anyone Help?
Hello,
My name is Davide Gnola, I'm director of Museo della Marineria
(maritime/fishing museum) in Cesenatico, Italy, on the west coast of
Adriatic Sea.
We have a section devoted to the first marine engines, where we have
a Bolinder engine. We know that this is an important engine for the
history of navigation, but we lack of specific info's about this:
the engine seems to be made in Italy, but we can't find any notices
about italian Bolinders.
Can you help us with some infos and references? I hope it can be
interesting also for you.
The plank over the engine said:
"Bolinder Italia
Fabbricazione italiana
Tipo V3M15S (?) N. 312360
8/10 CV 900 1000 Giri/Min.
Soc. An. Motori per la Pesca - SAMP
Roma"
Translated is:
"Bolinder Italy
Made in Italy
Type .... Serial number...
8/10 Horse Power - 900 / 1000 Round per Minute
[made by] SAMP - Anonymous Society for Fishing Engines - Rome"
Thanks in advance
Sincerely yours
Dr. Davide Gnola
